Changes to The Human Rights Code and Human Rights Complaint Process

On January 1, 2022, changes to The Human Rights Code (“The Code”) will come into effect. These legislative changes were passed by the Government of Manitoba on May 20, 2021. This means that there will be important changes to how complaints are dealt with by the Manitoba Human Rights Commission (“Commission”) and the Manitoba Human Rights Adjudication Panel. All parties with active and unresolved complaints will be affected by these changes. For more information, read the Notice of Changes to The Human Rights Code.

For more information on how these changes impact each step of the complaint process, please review the following Guides. These Guides reflect the changes to the complaint process that will come into effect on January 1st, 2022.
